Alex Haley Tribute Site • High Level of Professionalism
When one is documenting and preserving the legacy of Alex Haley, there are absolutely no shortcuts taken whatsoever. These first three U.S. Coast Guard Magazine articles by Alex Haley were written in February 1944, March 1949 and July 1949. Thus the original magazine covers—dating back 66 and 71 years ago—were not of any presentable condition when I first accessed them. As a result, over 12 hours of meticulous photo editing techniques were applied to just these three magazine cover images alone. All other magazine and book covers representing Alex Haley's written Articles, Forewords, Introductions and Interviews were also taken to this high level of image perfection.

The Alex Haley Roots Foundation • Official Website
Our voluntarily endeavors also included designing and providing site content for the official Alex Haley Roots Foundation. The importance of doing so aligns with Alex Haley's original vision: "The Foundation is a reflection of the responsibility I feel as a result of the success of Roots. I very much want to do something constructive with the profits from the book. I have no desire whatsoever to own a yacht, or a mansion, or a limousine, or anything else like that. I'm just not interested in those things. Instead, I've established the Alex Haley Roots Foundation. It only bears my name because of the shoe company which has a similar name. Basically, the Foundation is an outgrowth of my desire to put into practice what I believe." ~ Alex Haley. (Excerpted from Alex Haley: The Man Behind Roots by Jeffrey M. Elliot.)

Alex Haley Tribute Site • Complete Preservation of The Legacy
The most important function that truly ties everything together is the complete preservation of the legacy of Alex Haley. Thus after the specific Article, Foreword, Introduction or Interview given by Alex Haley is located, it is immediately transcribed, proofread and then posted alongside the original magazine or book cover that it originally appeared within. In addition to taking the original magazine or book cover to digital perfection, the original work itself is then digitally perfected before it is uploaded and preserved into the on-line digital archive. Here is how the finalized images look for the first pages of these three U.S. Coast Guard Magazine articles written by Alex Haley in February 1944, March 1949 and July 1949.
